Trump Claims Iran’s New Regime Has Requested Ceasefire from U.S

Islamabad (April 1, 2026): U.S. President Donald Trump has claimed that the newly installed Iranian regime’s president has requested a ceasefire from the United States. Speaking on the social media platform Truth Social, Trump described Iran’s new leadership as “less extremist and more intelligent” compared to its predecessors and said the U.S. would consider the ceasefire request.

However, Trump emphasized that any consideration of the ceasefire would only occur once the Strait of Hormuz is fully reopened and secured. Until then, he warned, U.S. attacks on Iran would continue, asserting that the country would be “pushed back to the Stone Age.”

In an interview with a British news agency, Trump claimed that the U.S. has already completed a regime change in Iran, although he declined to provide a timeline for withdrawal, stating some objectives remain in the country. He added that the U.S. would return if necessary to complete remaining military goals.

Addressing Iran’s nuclear ambitions, Trump said Tehran would neither obtain nor seek nuclear weapons and noted that U.S. surveillance via satellite would monitor any nuclear-related activity.

Additionally, Trump indicated he would express dissatisfaction with NATO in an upcoming speech and said the U.S. is considering exiting the alliance. Previously, he had announced that the U.S. would withdraw from the Iran conflict within 2–3 weeks, asserting that the military operations’ primary goal of preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons had been achieved.
