PCB Imposes PKR 20 Million Fine on Naseem Shah Amid Social Media Controversy

Lahore: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has imposed a PKR 20 million fine on national cricketer Naseem Shah for violating his central contract, sparking widespread debate among fans and cricket commentators.
Feel bad for Naseem Shah. He probably had to pay for something he didn't even do. What I assume is that his social media handler posted it by mistake, thinking they were logged into their personal account.
Regardless, even if Naseem tweeted this, isn't his Twitter his personal…

The controversy stems from a post made on Naseem Shah’s ex-social media account during the Pakistan Super League (PSL) opening ceremony at the Gaddafi Stadium. The post questioned why special protocol was being given to the Prime Minister of Punjab, Maryam Nawaz. Naseem later claimed that his account had been hacked and deleted the tweet, issuing an unconditional apology.

Despite the apology, the PCB committee determined that Naseem Shah had breached multiple clauses of his central contract and issued the hefty fine. Reports suggest that the player was initially facing a two-year suspension, but PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi intervened, recommending a fine instead.
In 2008, the PCB imposed a fine of PKR 7 million (approximately $83,000 at the time) on Shoaib Akhtar for criticizing the board’s policies. The amount was deducted from his total earnings. He later challenged the decision in court, and in 2015, the court set aside the verdict.… https://t.co/DClxwrwyCq

Fans and former players have expressed mixed reactions. Some criticized the fine as excessive, comparing it to the 2008 case of Shoaib Akhtar, who was fined PKR 7 million for criticizing the board and later had the penalty overturned in court.
؟ https://t.co/uCRYI3uDT7

Naseem Shah, through social media, reiterated that the controversial post reflected his social media team’s actions, not his personal views, and assured that corrective measures have been implemented to prevent future incidents.
