Child Killed in Alleged Mortar Shelling in Harnai; Pashtunkhwa National Awami Party Condemns Incident

Harnai (Daily Qudrat Quetta) – The Pashtunkhwa National Awami Party has strongly condemned an alleged mortar shelling incident in Harnai district that resulted in the death of a young child and left another critically injured.

According to a statement issued by the party’s provincial secretariat, the incident occurred on March 29 around 5:00 PM in the area of Zard Alu Killi Kamal Kach. The party claimed that two minor sons of a local resident were targeted near their home by what it described as “indiscriminate and unprovoked” mortar fire allegedly carried out by Frontier Corps personnel. One child died on the spot, while the other remains in critical condition.

The party termed the incident a grave violation of human rights and described it as an act of “state brutality,” stating that targeting innocent civilians, especially children, is unacceptable in any civilized society. It further alleged that such actions, carried out under the pretext of counterterrorism operations, are becoming an alarming trend that threatens peace and stability in the region.

Following the incident, local residents reportedly staged protests, demanding accountability and justice for the victims. The party called for the immediate registration of murder and attempted murder cases against the officials involved, their arrest, and strict punishment under the law.

It also demanded compensation and full protection for the affected family, as well as the removal of Frontier Corps personnel from the area. The party urged authorities to implement transparent and effective measures to prevent such incidents in the future and restore public trust.

The statement concluded with a warning that if justice is not served promptly, protests could expand across the province, holding authorities responsible for the consequences.
