Kabul (Daily Qudrat News) – Afghanistan’s National Disaster Management Authority (ANDMA) has reported severe damage and casualties across the country due to recent heavy rains and floods. Over the past five days, 77 people have been killed or injured, and hundreds of homes have been destroyed, leaving communities in crisis.

Hafiz Muhammad Yousuf Hamad, head of ANDMA’s Information Department, stated that since February 6, incidents of heavy rainfall, floods, landslides, and lightning strikes have claimed 28 lives and injured 49 others. The disasters have severely affected 1,130 families, with 130 homes completely destroyed and 438 homes partially damaged.

In addition, the floods and rainfall have killed 244 livestock, destroyed 24 wells, 30 water networks, and dozens of acres of agricultural land, compounding the hardships in affected areas. Authorities confirmed that emergency food, non-food supplies, and cash assistance have been provided to impacted families, and ANDMA remains fully prepared for any further emergencies.

Officials have strongly urged residents to stay away from rivers and flood-prone areas during heavy rainfall to avoid further loss of life and property.
