Storms and Hail Devastate South Pashtunkhwa; PDMA Criticized for Inaction

Quetta (Daily Qudrat Quetta) – The Pashtunkhwa National People’s Party (PNPP) expressed deep regret over the recent storms and hailstorms that have wreaked havoc across southern Pashtunkhwa, highlighting the lack of timely response by the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) and other relevant agencies.
According to a press release from the party’s provincial secretariat, districts including Qila Saifullah, Pishin, Qila Abdullah Khan, Chaman, Harnai, Ziarat, Sibi, Loralai, Musakhail, Zhob, Sherani, Barkhan, and Toba Achakzai suffered severe damage. Orchards were destroyed, standing crops were ruined, roads blocked, and farmers are facing losses worth millions of rupees.
The statement criticized the authorities for failing to take immediate action despite instructions from the Environment and Meteorology Departments, NDMA, and PDMA to handle emergency situations. It described the devastation not only as a natural disaster but also as a reflection of administrative negligence.
PNPP demanded that the government and PDMA immediately conduct a proper assessment of damages, initiate emergency relief operations, restore blocked roads, and compensate farmers for their losses. The party emphasized that farmers, the backbone of the national economy, are left helpless in the face of such disasters, suffering enormous financial setbacks.
