Pashtunkhwa National Awami Party Condemns School Closures in Name of Energy Saving

Quetta (Qudrat Daily) – The provincial secretariat of the Pashtunkhwa National Awami Party has strongly condemned the government’s decision to close educational institutions under the pretext of energy conservation, calling it a criminal, education-hostile, public-opposing, and future-jeopardizing measure.

In an official statement, the party described the closures as a deliberate attempt to suppress knowledge and push the Pashtun-Baloch province into the darkness of ignorance, backwardness, and deprivation. The statement rejected any notion that the move is a temporary administrative measure, calling it part of a carefully planned strategy.

The party criticized the contradictory government orders, which require teachers to attend schools while granting students indefinite leave, labeling this decision as unreasonable. They argued that while teachers’ presence is deemed a waste of energy, most students travel from local or nearby areas, which does not result in significant energy loss. Furthermore, in many primary schools, a single teacher manages three classes simultaneously, making it impossible to cover the syllabus effectively.

The statement accused the government of hollow claims regarding educational development and reforms, while in practice, such closures strike a severe blow to the future of the younger generation.

The Pashtunkhwa National Awami Party warned the government to immediately revoke this education-hostile decision, cautioning of serious and far-reaching consequences if it is not reversed. The party called upon parents, teachers, students, civil society, and aware citizens to unite and actively protest to protect the future of their children.
