Medicine Prices Surge Across Punjab by Up to 100%, Patients Face Growing Hardships

Lahore: A sharp increase in medicine prices has been reported across Punjab, including Lahore, placing a heavy financial burden on patients and the general public.

According to sources, prices of various medicines have risen by 10% to as much as 100%, making healthcare significantly more expensive. The hike has affected a wide range of products, including injections, vaccines, painkillers, and anti-allergy drugs.

Reports indicate that the cost of common medicines such as syrups and pediatric treatments has also increased, adding to the concerns of parents. Prices of some pain relief and anti-allergy medicines have climbed to between Rs300 and Rs330, compared to much lower rates previously.

Medical experts warn that the steep rise in drug prices is disproportionately impacting low- and middle-income groups, making essential treatment increasingly unaffordable. Hospitals, both public and private, are also facing additional pressure due to rising costs.

Citizens have urged the government to take immediate action in coordination with pharmaceutical companies to control prices and ensure that essential medicines remain accessible to all.
