UN Rights Chief Urges US to Conduct Transparent Probe into Iran School Bombing

Geneva: Volker Türk has called on the United States to carry out a swift, impartial, and transparent investigation into a deadly bombing at a school in Minab.

Addressing the United Nations Human Rights Council, Türk stressed that the February 28 attack on the Shajara Tayyiba Elementary School caused widespread fear and demanded urgent accountability. He emphasized that justice must be ensured by completing the investigation promptly and making the findings public.

Türk noted that, according to senior US officials, the probe is still ongoing, but insisted it should be finalized without delay given the severity of the incident and its humanitarian impact.

Reports of Potential US Troop Deployment

Separately, a report by The Wall Street Journal, citing officials familiar with Pentagon planning, claimed that the United States Department of Defense is considering deploying up to 10,000 additional ground troops to the Middle East.

The reported move is aimed at providing more military options to Donald Trump amid rising tensions in the region.

The developments come at a time of heightened geopolitical strain, with international observers closely monitoring both the investigation and potential military escalations.
