Audit Report Uncovers Massive Corruption in Local Governments of Pishin and Qila Abdullah

Quetta (Daily Qudrat News): A draft audit report for the fiscal year 2024–2025 has revealed large-scale financial irregularities and corruption in the local government institutions of Pishin and Qila Abdullah.
According to the report, serious violations were found in development projects, particularly in solar water schemes, road construction, and street lighting. In Pishin, substandard and undersized solar panels and inverters were allegedly used in water supply projects, causing a direct loss of approximately Rs 60.55 million to the national exchequer.
Additionally, contracts worth Rs 305 million for roads and street lights were reportedly awarded without proper tendering procedures, leading to further financial mismanagement.
Similar irregularities were identified in Qila Abdullah, where poor-quality materials and technical flaws rendered water supply projects ineffective. The report also disclosed that in Pishin, advance payments amounting to Rs 46.372 million were made to contractors even before the commencement of work, while fake entries were allegedly recorded in Measurement Books (MBs) to withdraw funds.
The audit report stated that the Departmental Accounts Committee (DAC) had ordered immediate recovery of the misused funds and initiation of inquiries. However, no significant action has been taken so far, raising serious concerns over transparency and accountability in the local governance system.
Officials have yet to comment on the delay in implementing the audit recommendations.
