Pakistan, China Reaffirm Strategic Partnership, Vow to Accelerate CPEC Phase II

Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening its strategic partnership with China and accelerating the second phase of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), emphasizing that bilateral ties are vital for regional peace and development.
The premier expressed these views during a meeting with Chinese Ambassador Jiang Zaidong at the Prime Minister’s House. The meeting was attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, along with senior officials including Tariq Fatemi and the Foreign Secretary.
Prime Minister Shehbaz congratulated Chinese leadership on the successful holding of the “Two Sessions” and thanked them for their congratulatory messages on Pakistan Day.
During the discussion, the prime minister stressed that under CPEC Phase II, Pakistan will prioritize major projects in agriculture, modern industry, and infrastructure. He noted that a new era of economic cooperation between Pakistan and China is beginning, which is expected to bring transformative changes to Pakistan’s economy.
Ambassador Jiang Zaidong appreciated Pakistan’s ongoing economic reforms and assured continued Chinese support to expand high-level engagement and cooperation. He also praised Pakistan’s constructive role in promoting regional stability and reiterated China’s commitment to elevating the bilateral strategic partnership to new heights.
Both sides reaffirmed their resolve to work together for mutual interests and regional peace and development, underscoring the enduring strength of Pakistan-China relations.
