Airlines fares hike up-to 20 percent amid rising fuel prices

ISLAMABAD: Airfares for domestic and international flights have increased by 10 to 20 percent because of rising jet fuel costs. The national airlines have expanded their flight schedules to the Middle East because they need to help Pakistani citizens who became stranded in Gulf nations during Eid.

Private airlines have expanded their flight schedules to the Middle East by adding more than 12 extra flights, which will operate during the holiday season.

The increase in domestic ticket prices has caused a major decrease in passenger numbers on local routes because some airlines have reported a 40 percent drop in their seat occupancy rates.
