Six Militants Killed in CTD Operation in Lakki Marwat

The **Counter Terrorism Department (CTD)** Bannu region killed six militants during an intelligence-based operation in the Shagei area of Lakki Marwat district.
According to reports, the operation was carried out within the jurisdiction of Gambila police station against suspected militants belonging to **Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan**, often referred to by authorities as “Fitna al-Khawarij.”
Officials said the militants opened fire on the CTD team as soon as they spotted them. Security personnel returned fire, resulting in the killing of six militants, while several others managed to escape.
The CTD said the militants were involved in spreading fear and terror in the area and were neutralized during the operation. Authorities recovered a large cache of weapons from the site, including four Kalashnikov rifles, two 9mm pistols, eight hand grenades, improvised explosive devices (IEDs), magazines, and ammunition.
Police said the exchange of fire between CTD personnel and the militants continued for nearly 40 minutes before the area was cleared during a search operation. The identification process of the slain militants is currently underway.
Inspector General of **Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police, **Zulfiqar Hameed**, along with the Additional IG CTD, praised the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team for their timely action.
The IG stated that militants would be pursued even in their hideouts and brought to justice, adding that the sacrifices of martyrs would not go in vain and the fight against terrorism would continue until peace is fully restored.
