Explosions Reported in Dubai, Buildings Shake After Air Defense Incident

DUBAI — Loud explosions were heard across parts of Dubai on Friday, with witnesses reporting that nearby buildings shook as thick smoke was seen rising in the city’s central area.

According to a correspondent from Agence France-Presse (AFP), a powerful blast was heard and the building he was in briefly shook due to the intensity of the explosion.

In a statement shared on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), the Dubai Media Office said that debris from a successful air defense interception caused minor damage to the exterior of a building in central Dubai.

Authorities confirmed that no injuries were reported in the incident. Officials said the situation was quickly brought under control and that the damage to the building was minor.

Witnesses also reported hearing sirens coming from the direction of Sheikh Zayed Road, one of the city’s main highways.

The incident comes a day after another minor event on Thursday when authorities reported a drone-related incident in central Dubai following the sound of explosions in the area.
