Balochistan Government Issues Threat Alert for Political Leaders

The government of Balochistan has issued a security threat alert for several political leaders, warning of potential risks to their lives.
According to the alert issued in Quetta, members of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (F) and other political figures may face security threats. The warning specifically mentioned the need for enhanced protection for Maulana Abdul Wasey, a senator and provincial leader of JUI-F in Balochistan, and Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haideri, the party’s central general secretary.
The alert also indicated potential threats to Mir Younas Aziz Zehri, the opposition leader in the Balochistan Assembly, along with provincial assembly members Asghar Khan Tareen and Zabid Reki.
Authorities have directed all relevant institutions, including the Frontier Corps, Balochistan Police, commissioners, and district administrations, to take immediate security measures. Officials have also been instructed to review the security arrangements at the residences and offices of the political leaders.
Reacting to the threat alert, Aslam Ghauri, spokesperson for JUI-F, said the issuance of such a letter by the provincial government amounts to an admission of failure to maintain law and order in the province.
He further alleged that the move could be used as a pretext to sideline JUI-F in the upcoming by-elections in Khuzdar and Kalat, calling it a form of pre-poll rigging. He added that if elected representatives and party leadership are not secure, it raises serious concerns about the safety of ordinary citizens in the province. 🚨
