Shoaib Akhtar Criticizes Indian Team, Compares Win to “Rich Kid Beating Others”

Lahore: Former Pakistani fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar reacted to India’s victory in the T20 World Cup final, sparking debates on social media.
India defeated New Zealand by 96 runs in the final, held at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, to claim the title.
During a television program, Akhtar said, “It’s like a rich kid in a neighborhood inviting poor kids to play, saying ‘let’s play cricket,’ but he will win anyway. India is doing something similar—they pick 4 out of 8 teams, then advance 3, and in the end say, ‘see, I won.’ They have spoiled cricket.”
His remarks drew mixed reactions on social media. Some fans agreed, highlighting issues with the balance of power in international cricket, while others defended India’s performance.
Throughout the tournament, India played most of their matches at home, with only one match hosted in Sri Lanka, and the semi-finals and final held in India.
