ANP Condemns Bureaucratic Control of Regional Language Academies, Announces Protest Against New Bill

Quetta, Daily Qudrat – The Awami National Party (ANP) has strongly condemned any government attempts to bring regional language academies under bureaucratic control, calling it an attack on intellectual freedom. The party issued a provincial statement criticizing moves that could undermine institutions promoting Pashto, Balochi, Brahui, and Hazaragi languages.
The statement highlighted that these academies have contributed significantly to the promotion of language, culture, history, and geography for decades. Bringing them under administrative control, the ANP said, would effectively suppress their intellectual and scholarly spirit. These institutions are autonomous under the Societies Registration Act of 1860, and any interference in their independence is unacceptable.
ANP emphasized that regional languages are central to Balochistan’s cultural identity and historical heritage, and institutions promoting them should be strengthened, not weakened. The party demanded that the affairs of these academies remain under the care of writers, scholars, and intellectuals, as academic and research work cannot function under mere administrative orders.
The statement further warned that any attempt to compromise the autonomy of these academies will be met with strong opposition. ANP pledged to join forces with all progressive, democratic, and scholarly entities to protect the literary and academic heritage through every democratic and legal forum.
