Months-Long Delivery Delays for Two Major SUVs in Pakistan Frustrate Buyers

Karachi: The excitement surrounding newly launched plug-in hybrid (PHEV) SUVs in Pakistan has turned into frustration for customers due to significant delivery delays.
According to market research, both Deepal S05 and Jaecoo J7 are facing difficulties in meeting delivery commitments despite high demand.
Customers who placed advance reservations for these vehicles in November and were promised delivery in December are still waiting to receive their cars. Even by early March, many early buyers have not yet received their vehicles, leading to growing dissatisfaction among consumers.
Complaints from buyers have become common across social media automotive communities, where customers are openly expressing frustration over the continuous delays.
Reports suggest that the delay in deliveries of the Jaecoo J7 is mainly due to internal production issues. Dealership showrooms have reportedly informed customers that the company has temporarily halted J7 production in order to focus resources on the upcoming Jaecoo J5.
Buyers of the Deepal S05 are also facing similar problems, with delivery timelines extending far beyond what was initially promised at the time of booking.
Earlier, the Jaecoo J7 also faced a safety concern when a 2025 model 1.6-liter turbo E85 petrol variant was recalled in Australia due to a potential manufacturing defect. The recall affected 1,028 units, with concerns that the issue could cause the engine to suddenly shut down while driving.
