T20 World Cup: Mohammad Amir Predicts England to Beat India in Semi-Final

Lahore: Former Pakistan fast bowler Mohammad Amir has made a significant prediction about the second semi-final of the T20 World Cup 2026, including which team will advance to the final.

The second semi-final will be played today in Mumbai between India and England. During Geo News’ program “Harna Mana Hai”, Amir predicted that England is the favorite against India in the semi-final.

Amir explained that the Indian team, as a unit, has not yet performed up to expectations, which could give England an edge. He added that if England bats second, their chances of winning are higher, as Mumbai is expected to host a high-scoring game.

The former pacer also highlighted inconsistencies in individual performances of some Indian players. He noted that Ishan Kishan and Sanju Samson have performed well only in a few matches, while Abhishek Sharma, Tilak Varma, and Suryakumar Yadav have been disappointing. According to Amir, it is difficult to see India in full control during the semi-final.

“Talking about India, only one or two batsmen are performing well consistently. They occasionally win matches, but overall, the team is out of form. Ishan Kishan performed well only against Pakistan, Abhishek Sharma is off form, Suryakumar Yadav hasn’t done much since the Super 8 stage. Sanju Samson has done a little, and Jasprit Bumrah is okay,” he said.

Ultimately, Mohammad Amir declared England as the favorite to advance to the final.
