KP Government Yet to Distribute Ramzan Support Funds Despite Half of Ramadan Passing

Peshawar:** The **Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf**-led government in **Khyber Pakhtunkhwa** has yet to distribute financial assistance under the Ramzan Support Package, even though **15 days of Ramadan** have already passed.

Chief Minister **Sohail Afridi** had earlier announced that **1.034 million beneficiaries** in the province would receive **₨12,500 each** under the package. However, despite the **Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Finance Department** releasing the funds, the payments have not yet reached eligible recipients.

Meanwhile, opposition parties have accused the government of distributing public funds among party workers, alleging that lists of beneficiaries are being prepared by elected members and office-bearers of **Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf**.

According to official documents, the provincial cabinet approved the program titled **“Ramzan Support for Low-Income Households, KP Perspective, 2026”** during its meeting on **February 11, 2026**, allocating nearly **₨12.83 billion** for the initiative. The finance department released **₨10 billion as a grant-in-aid** and **₨2.83 billion as a supplementary grant**.

However, **Muzzammil Aslam** rejected the allegations, stating that funds were released on time and the delay in payments was caused only by **slow administrative data entry processes**.

The issue has sparked debate over transparency and efficiency in the distribution of welfare funds during the holy month of **Ramadan**. 💰📊
