Washington: The United States has directed the departure of its non-essential diplomatic personnel from Pakistan due to security concerns.

According to a statement issued by the United States Embassy in Pakistan, non-essential staff at the US Consulates in Lahore and Karachi have also been instructed to leave the country.

The embassy clarified that there has been no change in the operational status of the US Embassy in Islamabad.
