Balochistan CM Seeks Feasibility Report for Revival of Pasni Fish Harbor

Quetta: Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti chaired a high-level meeting to review the restoration and operationalization of Pasni Fish Harbor, focusing on modernizing the fisheries sector and making the harbor fully functional.

The meeting was attended by MPA Gwadar Maulana Hidayat-ur-Rehman, Chief Secretary Balochistan Shakeel Qadir Khan, Additional Chief Secretary Development & Planning Zahid Saleem, Additional Chief Secretary Home Hamza Shafqaat, Secretary Fisheries Tariq Qamar, and other senior officials. The Chief Minister was briefed on the current condition of the harbor, existing challenges, and proposed strategies for its revival.

CM Bugti directed authorities to prepare a comprehensive feasibility report by May this year to ensure the project’s timely implementation on sustainable grounds.

Expressing strong displeasure over illegal trawling, he instructed relevant departments to strictly protect fishermen’s rights and take indiscriminate action against unlawful activities.

He emphasized that safeguarding marine resources and protecting the economic interests of local fishermen remain top government priorities. The Chief Minister noted that restoring Pasni Fish Harbor would strengthen the local economy and create new employment opportunities, directly benefiting the people of Gwadar and surrounding areas.

He further directed departments to ensure transparency, professionalism, and adherence to timelines in executing all measures, reaffirming the provincial government’s commitment to the development of coastal areas and the strengthening of the maritime economy.
