Military Adventurism Not the Solution to Pak-Afghan Tensions, Afghanistan Must Address Security Concerns: Maulana Abdul Wasey

**Islamabad:** Senator Maulana Abdul Wasey, provincial chief of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam in Balochistan, has said that military adventurism is not the solution to rising tensions between Pakistan and Afghanistan, urging Kabul to respond seriously to Pakistan’s legitimate security demands.

Addressing the Upper House, he stated that Pakistan’s national security concerns are not baseless but grounded in on-the-ground realities. Therefore, he said, Afghanistan must ensure meaningful implementation of Pakistan’s valid security requirements to help restore border stability.

Maulana Abdul Wasey noted that Pakistan has supported the Afghan people for 45 years, often at the expense of its own economy and internal peace. However, he claimed that the region continues to be a hub of global conspiracies, alleging that external powers such as Israel and India are exploiting the tensions for their own interests. He added that so-called strategic agreements have so far failed to deliver lasting peace.

The senator emphasized that emotional responses and unilateral military actions would only aggravate the situation. Instead, he stressed the need for a credible security framework and serious diplomatic engagement as the only viable path to sustainable peace.

He concluded by appealing to both brotherly Islamic countries to exercise restraint and immediately move toward a ceasefire to prevent further escalation.
