Senator Samina Mumtaz Zehri Clarifies Husband’s Remarks, Says Anger Rooted in Youth Employment Concerns

**Quetta:** Chairperson of the Senate Standing Committee on Human Rights, Samina Mumtaz Zehri, has issued a clarification regarding recent remarks made by her husband, Mir Ali Hassan Zehri, against the Chief Secretary of Balochistan.

In a detailed statement, Senator Zehri said she and her family have always upheld the supremacy of the Constitution and the protection of public rights. She acknowledged that the words used by her husband in anger were inappropriate and expressed regret over them. However, she stressed that it is equally important to understand the circumstances that led to the situation.

According to her, the frustration stemmed from concerns over unemployed youth in Hub who deserve jobs on merit without political influence or financial pressure. She said her husband’s reaction was driven by the desire to secure dignified employment opportunities for underprivileged young men and women.

The senator expressed concern that while Pakistan’s armed forces are sacrificing lives at the borders, certain administrative officials in Balochistan are allegedly ignoring the future of local youth due to bureaucratic arrogance.

Referring to the PB-21 Hub constituency, she mentioned that the recounting process was conducted for the second time and that the Returning Officer had sealed the premises. She added that Mir Sarfraz Ahmed Bugti assured her of standing by the law and justice, even sharing photographic evidence regarding the matter. She appreciated the Chief Minister’s decision to reappoint the Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Hub.

Senator Zehri also criticized the Bhootani brothers, alleging that repeated electoral defeats had led them to adopt unlawful tactics and interfere with election materials in an attempt to suppress the public mandate. She vowed that any such illegal efforts would be countered in accordance with the Constitution and the law, and that the people’s right to vote would be protected at all costs.
