ECP Orders Recount in PB-21 Hub, Accepts Ali Hassan Zehri’s Plea

Islamabad: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has ordered a recount in constituency PB-21 Hub after accepting the petition filed by Ali Hassan Zehri.

The decision was announced after the commission reserved its verdict a day earlier while hearing recount applications in compliance with directions from the constitutional court. The ECP has directed a recount at 39 polling stations in the constituency.

Earlier, the constitutional court had instructed the ECP to review the recount requests and had suspended Ali Hassan Zehri’s membership until a final decision was made. Zehri’s victory had been challenged in court by Saleh Bhootani.

Following the ECP’s ruling, the final outcome of the constituency will now depend on the results of the recount.
