Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif Meets Qatari Counterpart, Discusses Bilateral Ties and Global Developments

Islamabad (Qudrat Roznama) – Prime Minister of Pakistan, Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, held a high-level meeting with his Qatari counterpart, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, to discuss bilateral relations and global developments.

According to an official statement, the meeting was attended by Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting, and Prime Minister’s Special Assistant Tariq Fatemi.

During the discussions, both leaders reaffirmed the strong fraternal ties between Pakistan and Qatar and expressed satisfaction over the increasing momentum in political, economic, and institutional cooperation. Talks focused on enhancing collaboration in trade and investment, energy, defense, manpower and labor, and cultural sectors, with a joint task force established to accelerate cooperation in these areas.

The leaders emphasized the importance of implementing decisions made during recent high-level engagements, including the Joint Ministerial Commission and bilateral political consultations.

Regional issues, including developments in Gaza and broader Gulf security, were also discussed. Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif appreciated Qatar’s constructive diplomatic efforts to promote negotiations and reduce regional tensions, while both sides stressed the importance of peaceful conflict resolution and adherence to international law, including the UN Charter.

The meeting concluded with a mutual commitment to strengthen strategic partnership and maintain close coordination on bilateral, regional, and global matters.
