“Fell in Love First, Married Later”: 60-Year-Old Hakim’s Marriage to Young Woman Goes Viral

Rawalpindi: A video went viral on social media yesterday showing a 60-year-old Hakim sharing photos and scenes from his wedding to a young woman. Users commenting on the video raised questions about the couple’s significant age difference and the nature of their marriage.

The Hakim explained that their union combined both love and arranged marriage. “My wife fell in love first, and then the arranged marriage took place. We chose each other and then got married,” he said.

His wife also confirmed the story, urging others to accept the marriage. “Many say you should marry someone your own age, but I believe that when love is real, age doesn’t matter,” she said.

The Hakim added, “The heart should remain young; age is just a number. My wife was divorced, and I married her in accordance with Allah’s guidance and the Prophet’s ﷺ teachings. There’s nothing wrong in that. I had no unlawful relationship, so negative comments are unjustified. Most criticism comes from those who engage in improper relationships and avoid marriage, deceiving girls in the process.”
