Four Terrorists Killed, Two Officers Martyred, 20 Injured in Rawalakot Operation

Rawalpindi:In a major counter-terrorism operation in Rawalakot, Azad Kashmir, law enforcement agencies killed four terrorists, while two police officers were martyred and 20 others injured, officials confirmed on Thursday.
The operation was conducted in the Hussain Kot area of Rawalakot district after intelligence reports indicated the presence of militants planning attacks in the region. According to the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Rawalakot, the terrorists were hiding in a cave within the dense forest of Hussain Kot and were wanted in multiple murder cases.
The encounter turned violent when the terrorists opened fire and threw hand grenades, resulting in casualties among the security forces. The police stated that all four militants were neutralized after a fierce exchange of gunfire.
This incident comes amid a rising wave of terrorist activity in Pakistan. In March 2025, several police stations across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa were targeted in a series of attacks, causing significant damage and loss of life among law enforcement personnel.
According to the 2025 Global Terrorism Index, Pakistan currently ranks second globally in terms of terrorist activity. The country has witnessed a 45% increase in terror-related deaths over the past year, with 1,081 fatalities recorded.
Authorities have intensified counter-terrorism efforts, particularly in border regions and mountainous areas where militant groups are known to seek refuge. The government has vowed to eliminate terrorism and restore peace through sustained intelligence-based operations.
