Punjab Expands Ration Card Scheme, Introduces Cash Withdrawal Facility for Deserving Citizens

**Islamabad (Qudrat Daily)** – The Government of Punjab has expanded its ration card scheme by introducing a cash withdrawal facility aimed at providing greater relief to laborers and low-income families. Under the new provision, eligible beneficiaries will be able to withdraw up to Rs10,000 in cash.
Officials say the initiative is a significant step toward easing the burden of inflation and offering immediate financial support to deserving individuals. Previously, the ration card could only be used to purchase essential food items at subsidized rates. With the latest expansion, it has been made more effective by adding direct cash assistance.
According to authorities, beneficiaries will be able to withdraw cash from designated retail outlets without the need for a bank account or ATM access, making the process more accessible and convenient for daily wage earners.
Provincial officials estimate that millions of deserving individuals across the province will benefit from the facility, improving access to financial resources and strengthening the overall welfare system.
Experts believe the move could provide much-needed immediate relief to low-income households, particularly at a time when rising inflation has made it increasingly difficult for families to meet basic living expenses.
