Positive Development for National Economy: New Oil and Gas Reserves Discovered in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

Islamabad: In a significant boost for Pakistan’s economy and energy sector, Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) has announced a new oil and gas discovery in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

According to the company’s spokesperson, the discovery was made at the Bargazai X-1 well located in the Nashpa Block in Kohat district. The well is currently producing 225 barrels of oil per day and 1 million cubic feet of gas per day.

OGDCL stated that drilling at the Bargazai X-1 well commenced on December 30, 2024, and reached a total depth of 5,170 meters. During drilling operations, indications of oil and gas were observed at various geological formations during the drill stem testing phase.

The company emphasized that this new discovery will contribute to meeting the country’s growing energy needs and help increase Pakistan’s hydrocarbon reserves. Officials described the development as a positive step toward strengthening the national economy and enhancing domestic energy production.
