Sindh High Court Orders Arrest of SEEDA Secretary, MD over Failure to Regularize Employees

Karachi: The Sindh High Court expressed anger during the hearing of a case concerning the non-regularization of employees at the Sindh Economic and Energy Development Authority (SEEDA).
The court directed the arrest of SEEDA Secretary Khurram Shehzad and MD Pritam Das for failing to comply with its orders. Both officials were taken into custody by police inside the courtroom.
Advocate Aqil Awan, representing the petitioners, stated that five years ago the court had ordered the regularization of 27 SEEDA officers, who have been serving on contract since 2000 in Grade 17 and 18 positions. Despite repeated orders, the officials failed to provide valid reasons for not regularizing the employees.
The court’s stern action underscores its insistence on the enforcement of judicial orders regarding employee rights.
