PTI Protests in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Block Key Roads Amid Imran Khan Health Sit-In

**Sawabi, KP:** Thousands of protesters from Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf have blocked multiple highways and motorways across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa due to ongoing sit-ins over former Prime Minister Imran Khan’s health. The protests, called suddenly last Friday, have left travelers stranded and disrupted transport between KP, Islamabad, and other parts of the country.
Residents and commuters, like Akhtar Ayub from Peshawar, said they were unable to travel to Islamabad for work or meetings due to the road closures. “I waited all day at Haji Camp but could not reach Islamabad because of the PTI sit-ins. The uncertainty is very stressful,” he said.
According to PTI KP Deputy Information Secretary Ikram Kathana, protests are ongoing at more than seven locations, including:
* Sawabi Imbar Interchange (M1 Motorway)
* Dera Ismail Khan – Bhakkar Road
* Lakki Marwat – Mianwali Route
* Hazara Motorway
* Abbottabad, Havelian Interchange
* Kohat – Pindi Road (near Khushhalgarh)
* Islamabad – Mianwali (CPEC Road)
* Yark Toll Plaza
* Upper Kohistan CPEC Interchange
* Karakoram Highway to Gilgit
He said all routes will remain closed until Imran Khan is allowed access to his personal medical team and receives full treatment under supervision at Al-Shifa Hospital. The sit-ins are being carried out by PTI Youth Wing, PTI Students Federation, and party workers under directives from provincial and central leadership.
Commuters reported widespread disruption and fear of violence against vehicles, forcing many drivers to refuse travel. While routes in Punjab remain open, the closures in KP are creating severe inconvenience for locals.
PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Khan described the protests as non-political, emphasizing that they are solely focused on securing adequate medical treatment for Imran Khan. He added that updates will be shared with the public once the Islamabad High Court report is received.
