Government Announces Major Hike in Petrol Prices Ahead of Ramadan

Islamabad: Ahead of **Ramadan**, the government has added to consumers’ burden by increasing the prices of petroleum products. According to a notification issued by the **Petroleum Division**, the government revised fuel prices based on **OGRA’s recommendations**, with the changes applicable for the next **15 days**.

The **price of petrol** has been raised by **PKR 5 per liter**, taking the new rate to **PKR 258.17 per liter** from the previous **PKR 253.17 per liter**. Meanwhile, the **price of high-speed diesel** increased by **PKR 7.32 per liter**, bringing it to **PKR 275.70 per liter** from **PKR 268.38 per liter**.

This surge in fuel prices is expected to have a direct impact on transportation costs and overall inflation, adding to the financial pressure on consumers just before the holy month of Ramadan.
