Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Government Auctions Choice Vehicle Number Plates; “Dawar 1” Sells for PKR 17.5 Crore

Peshawar: In a spectacular display of public interest, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Government held the second auction of its exclusive choice vehicle number plates under the Excise & Taxation and Narcotics Control Department, with bidders offering crores of rupees for plates featuring regional and ethnic names.
The auction, held at Arena Hall, Qayyum Sports Complex in Peshawar, saw a total bidding of PKR 47.03 crore for 30 special number plates. The highest bid of PKR 17.5 crore was placed on the “Dawar 1” plate, purchased by citizen Inzamam-ul-Haq.
Other notable bids included:
* “Orakzai 1” – PKR 4.1 crore, bought by former senator and MPA Aurangzeb Khan
* “Waziristan 1” – PKR 4.06 crore, purchased by Faiz-ur-Rehman
* “Mehmad 1” – PKR 3.21 crore
* “Bajaur 1” – PKR 3.35 crore, purchased by Abbas Shah
* “Khyber 1” – PKR 2.01 crore, purchased by Haji Ikhtiar Muhammad
* “Mahsud 1” – PKR 2.2 crore, acquired by Abbas Khan Mahsud
Other plates such as “Gujjar 1” fetched PKR 1.63 crore, “Pashtun 1” PKR 1.32 crore, “Buner 1” PKR 95 lakh, “Mardan 1” PKR 68 lakh, and several others sold for amounts ranging between PKR 17 lakh and PKR 71 lakh.
Provincial Minister for Excise, Taxation & Narcotics Control Syed Fakhar-uz-Zaman described the initiative as a unique, citizen-friendly project and congratulated the successful bidders. He added that due to overwhelming public interest, further auctions of choice number plates will be organized in the future.
