Treatment of Imran Khan Reflects Repetition of State’s Past Conduct: Mir Lashkari Raisani

Quetta: Senior politician and former senator Mir Lashkari Raisani has expressed deep sorrow over reports of illness concerning former prime minister Imran Khan, stating that the state and judiciary’s treatment of him reflects a repetition of past patterns in the country’s history.

In a statement, Raisani said he was saddened to learn that Imran Khan was reportedly suffering from an eye-related ailment, calling the situation “deeply unfortunate.” He added that the conduct of the state and the judiciary toward the former premier has echoed earlier chapters of the country’s political history.

He emphasized that every individual who is incarcerated retains fundamental human rights, noting that even habitual or convicted criminals are entitled to medical treatment. “Imran Khan is an important national figure,” he said, adding that the alleged state oppression against him mirrors a long-standing trend in which political leaders and workers have faced coercion.

Raisani stated that political leaders and activists are assets to national development and progress, and subjecting them to injustice undermines democratic evolution. He strongly condemned what he described as oppression and injustice, reiterating his concern over Imran Khan’s reported health condition.
