Thieves Loot Goldsmith’s Shop in Karachi’s Malir City

KARACHI: Thieves looted a goldsmith’s shop in Karachi’s Malir City area, police said on Saturday.

According to police, the incident took place at a jewellery shop located in Ghanchi Market, where unidentified suspects cut the shop’s locks and stole a safe. The safe reportedly contained 850 grams of gold and Rs1.5 million in cash.

A case has been registered, and the market’s watchman has been taken into custody for questioning.

Police said the affected goldsmith claimed the total value of the stolen goods exceeded Rs50 million. Authorities are also reviewing CCTV footage to identify and trace the suspects.

It is worth noting that five days earlier, a similar incident occurred in Saeedabad, where burglars cut the locks of another jewellery shop and escaped with gold and silver ornaments worth over Rs4 million. A case regarding that incident has been registered at the local police station.
