Pakhtunkhwa National Awami Party Demands Immediate and Transparent Medical Care for Imran Khan

**Quetta:** Pakhtunkhwa National Awami Party has expressed deep concern and regret over the deteriorating and alarming condition of former Prime Minister Imran Khan’s eyesight, according to a statement issued from the party’s central secretariat.
The party stated that the reported treatment of the founding leader of a major and popular political party during his incarceration in Adiala Jail is not only inhumane but also contrary to democratic values and fundamental human rights. It emphasized that safeguarding the life and health of any prisoner—particularly a national-level political leader—is the constitutional, legal, and moral responsibility of the state.
The statement noted that the Constitution of Pakistan and international human rights principles require that detainees be provided with complete medical facilities, and that no negligence or delay in treatment should be tolerated. The party expressed regret over what it termed alleged criminal negligence in the treatment of Imran Khan’s eyesight, calling the situation alarming and unacceptable.
Pakhtunkhwa National Awami Party further stated that neglecting the health of any prisoner raises serious questions about the rule of law. While political differences may exist, depriving any leader of basic medical care is not befitting of a civilized society.
The statement added that news of damage to Imran Khan’s eyesight has created an atmosphere of anxiety and concern across the country, with citizens, political workers, and democratic forces expressing serious apprehension. It stressed that he must be provided with high-quality medical facilities without delay and undergo a comprehensive examination by qualified eye specialists.
The party demanded full transparency regarding his health condition, calling for his medical reports to be made public. It also urged authorities to transfer him immediately to a well-equipped medical facility if necessary to ensure the best possible treatment.
Concluding the statement, the party emphasized that political tensions should not be allowed to interfere in humanitarian matters, and that the health of any political leader must not be used as a tool of pressure or revenge. It reaffirmed that it would continue to raise its voice on every constitutional, legal, and democratic forum for the protection of Imran Khan’s medical treatment and fundamental rights.
