No Net Billing Charges for Existing Solar Users, Says Energy Minister Owais Laghari

**Islamabad:** Federal Minister for Energy Owais Laghari announced that, under the directive of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, existing solar users will not be charged under the net billing system.

Speaking on Geo News’ *Capital Talk*, Laghari stated that there will be no changes to the net metering policy for one month, and the new net billing regulations will only apply to new solar users.

He added that even the government’s allies are opposing the removal of net metering for solar consumers, and that his own wife is also against the policy.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had taken immediate notice of the new solar regulations issued by NEPRA. He instructed the Power Division to file a review petition with NEPRA to safeguard the contracts of existing solar users.

The Prime Minister emphasized that the appeal should ensure maximum protection for current contracts, preventing the burden of 466,000 solar users from falling on the 37.6 million national grid electricity consumers. He further directed the Power Division to develop a comprehensive plan on the matter.
