Flour Prices Surge in Balochistan Ahead of Ramadan

Quetta: Flour prices have surged sharply in Balochistan ahead of Ramadan, with the cost of one kilogram reaching as high as Rs150, raising concerns among consumers.

According to flour mill owners, citizens may have to purchase expensive flour for the next two months until the arrival of the new wheat crop. A 20-kilogram flour bag is currently being sold between Rs3,000 and Rs3,500.

Mill owners have expressed concerns that restrictions imposed by Sindh and Punjab have led to a shortage of wheat in Balochistan. They also warned that the suspension of wheat procurement by the Food Department could result in a flour crisis during Ramadan.

Residents have urged the authorities to ensure ample supply of flour and bring down prices ahead of the holy month.
