Big Blow for New Zealand: Match-Winning All-Rounder Michael Bracewell Ruled Out of T20 World Cup 2026

**Islamabad (Qudrat Daily):** New Zealand’s star all-rounder **Michael Bracewell** has been ruled out of the **T20 World Cup 2026** due to a **left calf injury**, dealing a significant blow to the Kiwi team. The **New Zealand Cricket Board** confirmed on Tuesday that **Cole McConchie** has been called up as Bracewell’s replacement.
Bracewell had returned to fitness in time for the World Cup after being unavailable during last month’s ODI series against India. However, during a warm-up before Sunday’s match against Afghanistan, he **re-injured his calf**, ruling him out of the remaining tournament matches.
Head Coach **Rob Walter** expressed his disappointment, stating, “We all feel for Michael Bracewell. Missing the World Cup is tough, and I know how much representing New Zealand means to him.” He added that **Cole McConchie**, an experienced domestic player with extensive T20 experience, would provide **balance and depth** to the squad.
Earlier on Tuesday, New Zealand defeated the **United Arab Emirates by 10 wickets**, maintaining their **top position in Group D**. The Kiwis will face **South Africa in Ahmedabad on Saturday** in their next group match.
