PTI Founder’s Sister Aleema Khan Admits Celebrating Basant at Home

Rawalpindi: Aleema Khan, sister of PTI founder, has admitted to celebrating Basant at home, emphasizing that no one can stop Lahoris from enjoying the festival.

Speaking to media outside ATC Rawalpindi, Aleema Khan said, “We didn’t tell anyone not to celebrate Basant. I also flew kites at home. Who can stop Lahoris from enjoying Basant?”

She described the enthusiasm of the city’s residents, noting that “every child was flying kites. My eldest son went out with his children to celebrate Basant on February 6. He is very passionate about the festival.”

Alima Khan added, “It’s very difficult to stop Lahoris from celebrating Basant. This is not a party’s Basant; it belongs to everyone.”

Referring to the protest on February 8, she said, “The protest was remarkable. People voted silently and also protested silently yesterday. First, they told us to stay home, now they say go outside. Pakistanis registered their protest quietly.”

She further commented that those who were supposed to close shops participated, while those who weren’t supposed to participate did not, calling the protest “successful.”

On legal proceedings, Aleema Khan noted that “cases from the past two years had accumulated in the Supreme Court, and a three-member bench has now been constituted for hearing the appeals, which is a significant development.”
