BCB President Meets PCB Chief as ICC Delegation Arrives, Key Development Expected on Pak-India T20 Match

LAHORE (Qudrat Roznama): Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) President Aminul Islam and an ICC delegation held meetings with Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi in Lahore, with significant progress expected in the coming hours regarding the Pakistan-India T20 World Cup match.
Sources say Aminul Islam arrived in Pakistan to participate in an emergency ICC meeting, while a conciliatory ICC delegation also reached the country. PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi welcomed the ICC team at the Qaddafi Stadium, where discussions on the contentious Pakistan-India match are underway. ICC Deputy Chairman Imran Khawaja, who has been assigned the task of handling matters related to the match, also arrived at the stadium to join the talks.
During his meeting with PCB Chairman Naqvi, BCB President Aminul Islam expressed gratitude to Pakistan for supporting Bangladesh’s stance on not playing T20 World Cup matches in India. Sources indicate that after participating in the ICC meeting, Aminul Islam will return to Dhaka later in the evening.
It is noteworthy that Bangladesh had requested to move its T20 World Cup matches from India to Sri Lanka due to threats from Hindu extremists and security concerns. However, the India-aligned ICC rejected the request, removing Bangladesh from the tournament and including Scotland in its place. Pakistan, showing full solidarity with Bangladesh, lodged a formal protest and announced a boycott of its February 15 group match against India as a mark of protest.
