Information Minister Links Resurgence of Terrorism to PTI

Lahore (Qudrat Daily) — Federal Minister for Information Attaullah Tarar has alleged that the recent resurgence of terrorism in the country is linked to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).

Addressing a press conference alongside religious scholars in Lahore, Attaullah Tarar said he was present to express solidarity following the tragic incident in Islamabad. He stated that those responsible for the attack did not deserve to be called human beings, as targeting worshippers during prayers was an act against humanity itself.

The information minister said that terrorists have no religion and assured that the state is making all possible efforts to ensure the security of mosques, imambargahs, and religious centers across the country. He reiterated the government’s resolve to eliminate terrorism from its roots.

Commenting on the Islamabad incident, Tarar said that although the attack occurred in a suburban area, it should not be termed a security failure. He stressed the need for national unity to counter extremist ideology and praised security forces for their professionalism and continued efforts against terrorism.

The minister recalled past military operations such as Zarb-e-Azb and Radd-ul-Fasaad, saying these operations had successfully ended suicide attacks and restored peace, particularly in Karachi. He criticized a previous government for adopting what he termed a misguided policy of negotiating with militants and settling them in urban areas, claiming that this approach had contributed to the return of terrorism.

Attaullah Tarar alleged that the ideology promoted during PTI’s tenure had caused the country to suffer once again from terrorism. He added that terrorists no longer have the capacity to strike hard targets and are instead attacking soft targets in remote or suburban areas.

He said security agencies are on high alert and further strict measures are being taken. According to him, significant progress has been made in investigations related to the Islamabad attack, and facilitators will be brought to justice.

The information minister also stated that Afghan soil is being used against Pakistan and that terrorists are killing Muslims for monetary gains. He concluded by saying that the government, under the prime minister’s directives, is fully committed to counterterrorism efforts and promoting harmony through initiatives like the Peace Message Committee, which includes representatives from all schools of thought.
