Islamabad Suicide Bombing: Forces Arrest 4 Facilitators Including Afghan ISIS Mastermind

Islamabad (Qudrat Daily) — Significant progress has been made in the investigation of the Terlai Kalan suicide attack as intelligence and law enforcement agencies conducted raids in Peshawar and Nowshera, arresting four facilitators involved in the attack, including the Afghan ISIS mastermind behind the operation.

According to security sources, the raids were carried out using both technical and human intelligence. The mastermind, responsible for planning, training, and radicalizing the suicide bomber in Afghanistan, was taken into custody along with four accomplices who assisted in facilitating the attack in Rawalpindi.

The sources confirmed that the suicide attacker, identified as Yasir, a resident of Peshawar, had conducted reconnaissance of the mosque a week before the attack. The bomber had returned from Afghanistan after four months and used 4–6 kilograms of explosive material equipped with ball bearings. He fired multiple rounds — two outside and six inside the mosque hall — before detonating himself. All spent shell casings were recovered from the site.

During the operations, one personnel lost their life while three others sustained injuries. Security officials emphasized that Afghan Taliban-supported ISIS and other terrorist groups continue to pose a major threat to regional and global security. Intelligence-based operations against terrorist networks are ongoing.

National Forensic Agency and NADRA assisted in collecting crucial evidence, aiding investigators in tracing the attack’s facilitators and their connections.
