Eight Killed in 20 Gas Leakage Incidents in Quetta Over Four Months

**Quetta (Qudrat Daily):** At least **eight people lost their lives and 49 others were injured** in **20 gas leakage incidents** reported in Quetta over a four-month period, while **18 people died across Balochistan in fire-related incidents within a single month**, according to official reports.

Details reveal that between **October 2025 and January 30, 2026**, Quetta witnessed 20 gas leakage accidents. Of these, **14 incidents were caused by Sui gas leaks**, while **six incidents involved illegally used LPG cylinders**.

According to the report, most accidents occurred due to **leaving gas valves open at night**, unsafe use of **LPG cylinders**, and the absence of proper **pipeline gas connections**, increasing the risk of leaks and explosions.

Meanwhile, a report from the **Burn Unit of Civil Hospital Quetta** stated that in **December 2025**, a total of **52 burn victims** were admitted from different areas, including **42 from Quetta**, **four from Chaman**, **five from Pishin**, and **one from Noshki**. Among these patients, **18 succumbed to their injuries**.

The burn victims included **35 adults, six children, six newborns, and five infants**, highlighting the severity of fire and gas-related accidents in the province.

Health and rescue officials have stressed the need for **public awareness**, safer gas usage practices, and strict action against **illegal LPG connections** to prevent further loss of life.
