Samsung Galaxy S22 and S23 Series Likely to Become Cheaper in Pakistan
**Islamabad:** There is a strong possibility of a price reduction for **Samsung Galaxy S22 and S23 series smartphones** in Pakistan after the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) revised **customs valuation rates** used for taxing imported smartphones.
According to officials, the revised customs values apply to the **import of used smartphones**, including popular brands such as **Samsung, Google, Apple, and OnePlus**. Following the reduction in customs values, importers will have to pay **lower taxes**, which is expected to bring down the market prices of older-generation smartphones.
Previously, new **PTA tax rates** for the **Samsung Galaxy S23 series** were announced. Now, updated rates have also been issued for the **Galaxy S22 series**, which includes the **Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22 Plus, and Galaxy S22 Ultra**.
Under the updated FBR customs valuation list:
* The **used Samsung Galaxy S22** has been assigned a customs value of **USD 80**, resulting in an estimated **PTA tax of around Rs 7,432**. In the local market, non-PTA used Galaxy S22 devices are currently priced between **Rs 80,000 and Rs 100,000**. After adding PTA tax, the expected final price may range from **Rs 90,000 to Rs 110,000**, depending on market conditions and seller margins.
* The **Galaxy S22 Plus** has been given a lower customs value of **USD 75**, with an estimated **PTA tax of approximately Rs 7,180**. Following the new tax rates, its expected retail price may fall between **Rs 110,000 and Rs 120,000**.
* For the **Galaxy S22 Ultra**, the customs value has been set at **USD 160**, leading to an estimated **PTA tax of around Rs 18,000**. Non-PTA used Galaxy S22 Ultra phones are currently selling between **Rs 110,000 and Rs 150,000** in the local market. After tax adjustments, the expected retail price could range from **Rs 130,000 to Rs 170,000**.
Market experts note that while the revised customs values are likely to reduce prices, **final retail rates may vary** depending on supply, demand, and individual seller profit margins.
