“My Father Was Highly Educated, Yet Wanted His First Child to Be a Son,” Says Vaneeza Ahmad

Lahore: Renowned former Pakistani supermodel Vaneeza Ahmad has spoken out against deep-rooted stereotypes surrounding the preference for sons over daughters, highlighting how such mindsets exist even among educated families.

Speaking at a public event, Vaneeza Ahmad shared a personal reflection, saying that despite her father being a highly educated man, she could sense that he had hoped his first child would be a son. She emphasized that this mindset reflects a broader societal issue rather than individual prejudice.

The former model noted that attitudes are gradually changing in today’s world, as women have become more aware of their worth and potential. “People are now realizing that everyone comes into this world with their own destiny, writes their own journey, and creates their own story,” she said.

Vaneeza Ahmad rejected the idea of being defined by circumstances of birth or family background, calling such beliefs outdated. She stressed that women, in particular, are powerful creators capable of shaping their own futures.

She further added that limiting thoughts such as “I can’t do this” need to be challenged and changed, urging women to break free from self-imposed boundaries and societal expectations.

Her remarks have been widely appreciated for shedding light on gender bias and encouraging a more progressive outlook toward equality and empowerment.
