Arijit Singh Reveals Real Reason Behind Retirement from Playback Singing

MUMBAI:Renowned and immensely popular Indian playback singer Arijit Singh has revealed the real reason behind his decision to retire from playback singing, saying the move was not sudden but the result of long and careful thought.

The singer, who has ruled millions of hearts with his soulful voice, recently made a formal announcement that he would no longer sing for films. The decision surprised fans and sparked widespread debate within showbiz circles about why Arijit chose to take such a major step at the peak of his career.

The announcement came at a time when his recent songs *Gehra Hua*, *Ghar Kab Aaoge* and *Matr Bhoomi* were receiving immense appreciation from audiences.

Arijit first hinted at his decision through a private post on social media platform X, followed by a detailed statement on Instagram. In his message, he clarified that the decision was not taken overnight. “I had been thinking about it for a long time. Eventually, I found myself ready to take this step,” he wrote.

Explaining his mindset, Arijit said he tends to get bored easily, which is why he often presents the same song differently during live performances. “I get bored quickly, and that’s why I keep changing the arrangement of my songs on stage,” he said.

He also expressed his desire to see new talent emerge in the industry. “I want new singers to come forward. I want to hear new voices that inspire me and push me to learn,” he added.

Towards the end of his post, Arijit thanked his fans for the love and respect he has received over the years, saying he would never forget it. However, he reassured fans that he would honor his existing commitments, meaning some of his previously recorded songs will continue to be released in the coming months.

Arijit Singh is widely known for his romantic and soulful songs. He rose to fame through the reality show *Fame Gurukul* and entered Bollywood with the hit song *Phir Mohabbat* from the film *Murder 2*. Today, he is regarded as one of Bollywood’s most successful singers.

The song *Matr Bhoomi* from the film *Battle of Galwan* is being considered Arijit Singh’s final playback song, marking what many see as the end of a golden era in Bollywood music.
