Islamabad: President of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari has signed seven key bills into law, including legislation addressing domestic violence. With his approval, these bills have officially become acts of Parliament.

Among the laws signed by the president are the Domestic Violence (Amendment) Bill 2026 and the Danish School Authority (Amendment) Bill. Additionally, President Zardari approved the Income Tax (Amendment) Bill, the Export Development Fund Bill, and the Transfer of Railways (Amendment) Bill.

The president also ratified the establishment of the National Commission for Human Rights and the National Tariff Commission.

Prior to his signature, three of these bills were passed in a joint parliamentary session, while the remaining four were approved separately by the National Assembly and the Senate.

The Domestic Violence Act specifically criminalizes physical abuse, threatening behavior, and intimidation involving potential second marriages, offering legal protection to victims and stronger enforcement mechanisms.
