Federal Government’s Statement on Tirah Valley Evacuation Baseless: Shafi Jan

**Islamabad:** Special Assistant to the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Information, Shafi Jan, has termed the federal government’s statement regarding the evacuation of people from Tirah Valley as “baseless.”
Responding to the federal government’s remarks on the displacement of local residents, Shafi Jan said that the federal authorities are attempting, unsuccessfully, to shift the responsibility of the operation onto the provincial government.
He emphasized that the entire nation is aware that the people of Tirah Valley have been compelled to migrate due to the ongoing military operation. Shafi Jan noted that Defense Minister Khawaja Asif and State Minister for Interior Talal Chaudhry’s statements in the National Assembly clearly reflect this situation.
He added that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Suhail Afridi has repeatedly clarified the provincial government’s stance regarding the Tirah Valley operation. The provincial assembly’s peace jirga had witnessed all political parties opposing the operation.
Shafi Jan criticized the federal government’s claim of releasing Rs 4 billion for displaced people as “ridiculous,” stating that the provincial government had already ensured timely release of funds to provide relief to affected residents.
