Islamabad: Private messages between American pop singer Taylor Swift and her longtime friend Blake Lively have surfaced, exposing strains in their friendship that were previously unknown to the public.
Reports indicate that tensions between Swift and Lively began quietly, long before the messages were made public. The texts emerged from recent legal documents in a case involving Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni, revealing candid exchanges between the two friends.
In one message, Lively wrote, “No particular reason to ask, but I just feel I should check—are you okay?” She added, “I feel like I have been a bad friend because I’ve been sad for months, only focusing on myself. Yet during that time, you were my biggest support and forgave me for being in that state.”
About an hour later, Taylor Swift responded, expressing her exhaustion: “I feel worn out in every aspect of my life, and for the past few months, I noticed your way of talking to me changing.” She added, “I just miss my friend—the cheerful, slightly sarcastic, simple way you used to talk to me. I know you face criticism from all sides, and that’s why you try to over-explain everything.”
Swift also reassured Lively, writing, “That’s why a little distance came between us, and you don’t need to apologize—just come back, please.”
In reply, Lively acknowledged Swift’s concerns, admitting that her tendency to over-explain stemmed from a fear of being misunderstood. She reflected, “Good people, lifelong friends, quietly drifted away from me, and that scared me a lot.”
